Weekend Fun

I know everyone looks forward to weekend, but in the Storm house the weekends end up being more work than the week. (Luckily both Nick and I enjoy what we do.)

Saturday started as a day apart. Nick left at 7 to get to Woodbury for a basketball tournament. He spent the day there coaching his team, the Minnesota Fury. The day was quite uneventful, as they beat both teams they played by like 40 points. (No, I am not exaggerating at all!)

I had an open house at my listing in New Prague. I found out a couple hours before the open house that we had an offer coming in on the house. It made my clients SOOOO excited! Aidan got to hang out at grandma and Papa's. He was PUMPED to go over and hang out.

After I was finished working, Aidan and I went out the Woodbury to watch Nick's last game. Nick is the director of the club, so we usually end up staying and watching as many of the games that all 16 teams play. We ended up watching 3 games Saturday night. During Nick's game Aidan ran into a metal pole and got a bloody nose. I have NEVER seen blood come out as quickly as it poured out of his little nose. It took about 10 min to get it to stop and he was LIVID that I made him sit down until it stopped bleeding. It was so bad that Nick ran over off the bench during the game. (They were winning by like 30 at that point, so they really didn't need him anyway.) Thinking we had already had our excitement for the night, Nick went to help another coach during the 14U game. After halftime- right on cue- Aidan fell backwards and cracked his head on the cement floor. (Tears and hugs followed.) I was done being at the tournament. We went to dinner after the games at Buffalo Wild Wings (Aidan's favorite) with another coach and his family. Aidan and their daughter, Annika, get along so well and had so much fun!

Sunday was more of the same. Nick's first game was at 8 am. Luckily, we stayed in a mildly ghetto hotel close to the tournament. The games promised to be much better matched as they were finished will pool play and started bracket play. When I am at the tournaments, I usually tape Nick's team (and any of our other teams) so we have the girls on tape for when the college coaches start calling. (Nicki's DVD and movie making season is now upon us!) The girls won their first game as expected. Going into the second game, no one (and by no one I mean no one but the team itself.) expected the Fury to win. (We did expect it to be a good game though.) They played the North Tartan Nike Elite team- which had only lost one game all year and that was in an out of state tournament. (Nick's team is not one to sneeze at either- there are some of the best players in the state on his team.) The game started and North Tartan got an early lead. They fought hard and, by half time, the Fury was a head. Nick was pumped because by the end of the game his team had won by 22 points! This was their Superbowl. (It was also only the semi-final game.) It was arguably the best I have ever seen his team play.

After that, the went into the Finals and didn't do well- at all. They fell apart. (Nick- if you are reading this- sorry) There was one point in the game when I looked a Nick and pantomimed to him that he needed to stand up and bring some energy. (He didn't understand what I was trying to say, so I actually sat down and then stood up- he got it then.) It was a big bummer, but second place is nothing to complain about- they did well.

Nick, Aidan, and I ended out the weekend eating ice cream and fresh cookies while watching a movie. GREAT WEEKEND- but now it is Monday.
