State Fair

We got to the Fair early Wednesday morning. (Okay, well early for us) We found out that one of Aidan's pigs was not heavy enough to compete, so Aidan was only able to show two of his own pigs. There was another show going on at the same time as the Jr. Show, called the Derby show. Since Nick's family breeds and sells show pigs, the show several in the Derby show to promote their pigs, and because it is fun for them. The reason I mention this is because Aidan was able to "practice" showing the Derby barrows before he had to show his. Aidan showed twice in the Derby show before he had to show his own pigs. This was great for him, as each time he got better at showing than the time before. (and he got ribbons-which was what made his day!)
Aidan showed his first pig and got 9th place in the show. (Out of something like 14 pigs) According to Jake, Nick's dad, that pig wasn't a very good one- so 9th was fabulous!

He took a break between his pigs and helped Uncle Ben show a pen of three pigs- they got 4th.

Aidan went back to show his final pig and he got 7th. He was just happy to have done better on this one than the last. (He could read the numbers on the pens that they put them in- he was in #5 this time, as opposed to #7 last time.) He had so much fun showing his pigs and he was so proud of them.

Aidan spent two hours after showing sitting at the "oink" booth passing out pencils. He was so mad at us when we mad him drive his pigs to the truck. (He was okay with it once he heard that he could go back and help when he was finished.)

Aidan and I walked around with the Lindblom family in the afternoon. Hannah refused to hold any one's hand but Aidan's. It was pretty adorable- he was a great older brother.

The rest of the day went well- nothing else exciting to report. Oh, except that Nick bought a Sow at the auction.
